The Work Beneath the Surface
Yes, this site sells candles and soaps—but don’t get it twisted.
Beneath the scent of lavender and sandalwood is a conversation most people avoid: real mental health. Not the Instagram-quote version. The kind that shapes how you cope at 2 a.m., how you connect—or don’t—how you love, self-sabotage, numb out, and survive.
Mental health isn’t just anxiety or depression. It’s how you handle stress when no one’s watching. It’s how you show up in your relationships, how you make decisions, and how you live with yourself. And whether people want to admit it or not, sexuality runs straight through all of it. Ignoring that doesn’t make anyone more “proper”—it just keeps people stuck, confused, and quietly miserable.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor and AASECT-certified sex therapist, I don’t treat sexuality like a side note or a whispered confession. It’s part of being human. Full stop. My work is about pulling this conversation out of the shadows—stripping away shame, misinformation, and moral panic—and approaching it with the same honesty and respect as any other aspect of health.
So light a candle. Slow down. Stay awhile. If you find yourself wanting—or needing—something deeper, you already know where to find me.
All my best,
Dr. B. K. Wise
