About Me
Hello and welcome!
I’m Brian, and I’m delighted you’ve found your way to A Wish Apothecary. Before you explore, I’d like to share a little about myself and the journey that brought me here.
For nearly thirty years, I practiced as a Licensed Professional Counselor, helping individuals navigate life’s challenges. I also served as a professor, earning a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, and trained future counselors to enter the field with confidence and skill. Additionally, I am a Certified Sex Therapist through the American Association of Sexuality Counselors, Therapists, and Educators, with a 150-hour post-doctoral certification.
After years of focusing on my career and family, retirement brought a new question: What’s next? For a long time, I struggled to find purpose outside of the familiar routines of work and parenthood. I realized that purpose is more than a goal—it is a driving force, a reason to leap out of bed with energy and intention, fostering fulfillment, well-being, and personal growth.
Over time, through reflection, travel, and self-exploration, I discovered a renewed purpose: giving back, finding meaning, and creating something tangible that could bring joy and comfort to others. That purpose led me to A Wish Apothecary—a space to craft meaningful, high-quality soaps, candles, and self-care products.
My inspiration comes from those without a voice—particularly animals. Thirteen years ago, I fell in love with my Boston Terrier, Bruce Willis, and caring for him reminded me how vulnerable and precious life can be. Animals cannot speak for themselves, and their well-being is intimately tied to our responsibility to protect them and the world they inhabit. That is why a portion of every sale goes to organizations dedicated to animal welfare, safety, and environmental preservation.
A Wish Apothecary is more than a shop—it’s a mission. It’s about creating experiences that nurture your senses, uplift your spirit, and bring intentional care into your everyday life. I hope that as you explore our offerings, you find a little bit of joy, reflection, and inspiration along the way.
Thank you for stopping by, and remember the words of Rumi:
"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right-doing, there is a field… I’ll meet you there."
If there’s ever a way I can help, just ask. I’ll be there.
Warmly,
Brian
