And Just Like That, I'm Over Sex and the City

While I can't prove it, I have used the line "just like that" for years.
It reminds me of Jack McFarland of Will and Grace when he attempted to coin a term regarding his workouts at the gym. Each time he came up with a word or phrase, such as "Steak it," someone in the gym would take over the word/phrase. Finally, Jack settled on "Steak it UK," only to be robbed again.
So let's talk. I can barely stomach this new take on Sex and the City. It is bothersome because I loved SJP's character...at one time. Now, for SJP, I still love her. Not in a stalkerish way, mind you, but I nearly flew to Manhattan one evening to catch her at Macy's the next day as she unveiled her shoe line. That was another time. So, if you have watched the previous seasons, you are fully informed about the characters. Pretty well established, right? That's why I am throwing the DOODIE card once again. NO WAY Charlotte York is going to be so nonchalant about Rose identifying as trans and so freely calling her Brick. Miranda loved dick, and now it is all about pussy/dick/they? Please. And is there no greater tragedy than Big dying off? And rest assured, Carrie will not let you forget it. She trumps every other event in the other characters' lives because Big died. My daughter may be trans. So what? Big died. My marriage to Steve is in trouble. So what? Big died. You get the picture. But here it is. Was this on purpose? All this political correctness. Right down to the very purposeful shot of the Brita Water Pitcher. Look, I get it. Raise awareness. Oh, BTW, why is it, based on my experience, the genderqueer, nonbinary community, etc....all gotta say fuck a million times and make so many references to their sexuality? It's as if there is nothing more to them other than their sexuality. Their entire self-concept is wrapped up in it. It's just so in your face and down the throat. Listen, as a gay man, I get it. I don't want to be tolerated by you. Are you kidding? I don't want to be marginalized. Invisible, not count. Hell, I don't even feel the need to be accepted by you, but I do demand equality, and I don't have to shove a dick in your face to get it. And I feel pretty certain I don't have to tell you how many people I have fucked or how many people have fucked me and by whom, what, when, and where. It's gratuitous. And I will not apologize. It is silly, plain, and simple. And for the record, having been called a queer from a very young age and being hurt deeply by it, I find the term to be as offensive to me as black Americans find the word N to be offensive to them. So my point is this. I don't need HBO or any other platform to educate or influence me. If their attempt was to normalize all this, the mark was missed. These women, while capable of change, will not lose their shit because their professor isn't allowed in the library because she lost her library card. Charlotte would exhibit some obvious discomfort at her daughter's transition. For the love of God, this woman spent how many seasons trying to get pregnant and create this illusion of the perfect white bread family. It is absolutely not believable.
So I guess after watching this show and being so stupid as to be influenced by it (unless the purpose was to demonstrate just how ridiculous we have become as a society), I need to go out and get myself some black friends, express no discomfort over anything, even my SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD SON or DAUGHTER fucking so loudly it keeps me awake in my own house. And yes, please.....sound familiar? Yes, please, order me some more LUBE from AMAZON. Pardon me for just a minute...GODDAMMIT. They even have to bring AMAZON into it.
Careful, my dears. As I have said a thousand times. Calling this street Martin Luther King Blvd does not change a thing...other than a street name. Tearing down a statue does not change a thing other than replacing it with something else. All these are good because any change for recognition is good, but it is not the correct way. For example, LGBTIQA+ stands for "lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer/questioning, asexual, and more. The + after the "A" may denote a second "A" representing "allies". This is nonsense. Oh MY GOD, Let us not forget to add Two Spirits to catch the Native Americans. Oh, and let's add a black strip to the gay flag to recognize black gays... The flag has nothing to do with the races, you morons. The flag colors reflect the diversity of the LGBT Community, and the colors stand for unity, healing, spirituality, etc... So I say get a grip. All this word salad detracts from our community. It separates and divides us. Hell, our own community is divided. Which should be first, T, G, L? Another example comes to mind. African American. Unless you were born in Africa and migrated to this country, you are just like me, an American. Just like I am not a European American. I am just an American. Seems to be we purposefully divide. We want inclusion, yet we want to be excluded, apart from the group. We want to be a part of the collective, yet we must retain our individualism. And I think that it is wonderful to maintain one's individualism, but for fuck's sake, let's don't go ape-shit crazy over it.
It feels like a bad time for us all...all races and all people of color: Black, Red, Brown, Yellow, and White. How about this? Pay your taxes, be a productive member of society, contribute, and be kind and loving. I don't want or need your labels, Sir. I've been called enough names.
