The Ongoing Story

     Welcome to A Wise Apothecary—I'm truly glad you're here.  Before you explore the scents, stories, and offerings, let me introduce myself.

     For nearly thirty years, I worked as a licensed mental health professional—a Licensed Professional Counselor with a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. I taught future counselors, supported clients through life’s complexities, and practiced as a Certified Sex Therapist through AASECT. For a long time, my purpose was clear: family and career.  Then life shifted.

     When my sons left home, and I stepped into semi-retirement, I found myself facing a question many of us eventually meet: Now what? Purpose, I learned, isn’t just a goal—it’s the quiet force that gets you out of bed, the inner nudge that gives life texture and meaning. When that spark dimmed, I searched for it in familiar places—routine, relocation, nostalgia. None of it worked. As Thomas Wolfe said, “You can never go home again.” Chasing the past rarely brings fulfillment in the present.  What did work was curiosity.

     Through reflection, travel, creativity, and self-exploration, I rediscovered something essential: meaning isn’t fixed—it evolves as we do. That realization became my compass and eventually led me here, to a place where creativity, purpose, and generosity intersect.  A Wise Apothecary was born.

     Formerly known as Your Color Puppy, LLC, this venture allows me to express creativity while supporting something close to my heart—animals who depend on us to speak and care for them. My Boston Terrier, Bruce Willis, has been a constant teacher in love, loyalty, and vulnerability. Because of him, a portion of every purchase supports organizations dedicated to animal safety, welfare, and preservation.

This isn’t just about candles.  It’s about intention. Connection. And doing a little good while enjoying something beautiful.  My hope is that what you find here feels meaningful—to you, to me, and to the world we share.
