In old New Orleans, young women arriving from France became known as the Casket Girls for the small chests they carried. Over time, their story gathered a darker twist: a French Quarter legend claims those chests held vampires. It’s a tale, not a historical fact, but it has become part of the city’s ghost-story tradition.
Our Casket Girls candle pairs a soft, fresh lily-of-the-valley fragrance with white wax and vivid red swirls. White suggests the girls’ delicate appearance and the floral scent; red adds the dramatic hint of the vampire legend. Those colors tell our candle’s story—they are not historical symbols of the women themselves. Each hand-poured jar carries a slightly different pattern.

We want you to be happy with your Voo Doo Pooch candle. Please read this policy before placing an order or returning an item.
When returning, contact Your Color Puppy, LLC within 14 days of delivery to request a return. Please include your order number and the reason for the return. Wait for return instructions before shipping your candle.
For a return based on a change of mind, the candle must be unused, with the jar and lid intact. The customer is responsible for return shipping costs. We recommend using a trackable shipping service and packing the glass securely. Original shipping charges are nonrefundable for change-of-mind returns.
If your candle is defective, incorrect, or does not perform as expected, contact us with your order number, a description of the problem, and clear photos. Please stop using a candle if its jar is cracked or damaged.
A candle’s burn, scent throw, and appearance can be affected by how it is used and by its surroundings. Please follow the care and safety instructions provided with your candle, including the guidance for wick trimming, burn time, and placement. Drafts, room size, and airflow may also affect how strongly you notice the scent. Some variation in the appearance of handmade candles is normal.
When reviewing a concern about burn performance or scent throw, we may ask how the candle was used and request photos of the wick and wax. We cannot offer a refund or replacement solely because a scent seems too light for a particular room or because of normal appearance variations. We will still review concerns about defects or candles that do not perform properly when used as instructed.
For a replacement or refund involving a candle that has been used, the jar, lid, and all unused wax must be returned intact for inspection. We cannot issue a replacement or refund for a used candle without the returned jar. Do not discard the candle or its lid while your request is being reviewed.
If your order arrives damaged, contact us as soon as possible, within 5 days of delivery. Send photos of the candle, the damage, the shipping box, and the packing materials. Keep those materials until we have reviewed the claim.
Do not mail broken glass. We will provide instructions after reviewing the photos and handle damage claims in accordance with applicable law.
Before each lighting, trim the wick to about ¼ inch and remove any debris from the wax. Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts and anything that can catch fire. On the first burn, allow the wax to melt close to the edges of the jar to help prevent tunneling, but never burn for more than four hours at a time. A long burn can cause carbon to build up on the wick, making it “mushroom” and produce a larger, smokier flame. If the melt pool becomes too deep, it may also overwhelm the wick and cause the flame to weaken or go out. Let the candle cool completely before trimming the wick and relighting it. Never leave a burning candle unattended; keep it away from children and pets. Stop using it when about ½ inch of wax remains, or immediately if the glass is cracked.
Heavy Base Tumbler: Our candle is poured in a 13.5 oz Libbey 918CD glass tumbler. Its clean lines and substantial base give it a stable, polished look. Each finished candle contains approximately 9.5 oz (270 g) of wax.
Lid: A glossy black metal flat lid completes the candle. An inner silicone fitment helps hold it securely on the jar.
Wick: The CD (Stabilo) wick is made from braided cotton reinforced with paper threads. It is designed for a steady burn in soy wax and contains no lead or zinc. After extinguishing the candle and allowing it to cool, trim the wick and remove any carbon buildup before relighting.
Wax: We hand-pour our candles with plant-based Artisan soy wax. Soy-based performance additives help give the wax an opaque finish, reduce frosting, and improve its adhesion to the glass.
Scents:
Voo Doo Pooch candles are scented with fragrance oils, not essential oils. We choose them for the scents they help us create, from familiar florals to New Orleans-inspired blends. Each fragrance has its own character, and how strongly you notice it while the candle burns may vary with the scent, room size, and airflow.
Each Voo Doo Pooch candle is poured by hand, so no two will look exactly alike. The color swirls may vary, and the wick may sit slightly off-center. Soy wax can also develop a lightly uneven surface, a pale “frosted” appearance, or patches where the wax seems to pull away from the glass. The surface may look different again after the candle has been burned and cooled. These appearance changes are common with soy wax and generally do not affect the candle’s scent or burn. In addition, the weights are not exact, give or take a gram or two. These are handcrafted, not manufactured in mass by machines.
Scent strength can vary with the fragrance, room size, and airflow. For the best experience, follow the candle care instructions and keep the wick trimmed to about ¼ inch. If the wick leans close to the glass, the flame becomes unusually large, the jar cracks, or the candle burns unevenly in a concerning way, extinguish it and contact us. We’re happy to review a possible performance issue.
We make Voo Doo Pooch candles to share a little New Orleans character at a welcoming price. Each one is hand-poured, finished, and labeled with care. Your purchase helps us cover materials, make the next batch, and set aside what we can to support animal shelters and/or animal care. Thank you for helping us keep the candles—and the giving—going.
